The elastic sensor will change the way of interaction with the portable electronics
The sensor resembles an ordinary pea, only from black rubber. It was decided to call it Deform Wear, in view of the fact that interactions with it are carried out precisely by deforming its form. Being connected to any device, the functionality of the sensor can easily replace the user’s touch screen. You can press on it like a button, move your finger slightly in one direction or another, or flatten with two fingers at once. Each time the reaction to your action will be appropriate.
To date, the prototype sensor is made in the form of a ring, bracelet and suspension. But German engineers are sure that in the future such a sensor can be glued, for example, to a finger, after which it will become a direct control panel for your portable electronics. Inside, the sensor is arranged as follows: in its middle there is an LED, and in the base there are four photodiodes that measure the level of light that hits their surface. Moving the LED, pressing it to the base or overlapping the light from it with two fingers, the person changes the direction of the light falling, thereby giving commands to the system.
The team of engineers has already managed to test their invention not only on smart watches, but also on video games (including virtual reality ), as well as to manage smart TV. Below you can see how the device works in practice.
